after hearing about it through the submission to @angryasiangirlsunited, i checked out the trailer of Lucy and am even more disgusted. and so not surprised. whiteness is getting too old.

the upcoming movie lucy will feature the age-old racist narrative of pure white woman (scarlet johansson) being violated by scary, brown men. and the new white feminist trope of women gaining their power by violently eliminating brown men. who needs the white male savior when we now have white female saviors, taking it into their own hands to save their whiteness from all that non-whiteness. so radical.

My favorite part are the white feminists who are raving about this movie because “strong independent woman yaaaas!!”

i’m just wondering why there are herbs and fruits and vegetables written in a faded, creepy red on a prison-like wall in chinese.  are herbs and fruits and vegetables in chinese supposed to be part of some sort of scare tactics?  or am i missing something here?

HAHAHAHAHA

The above makes this so much better

OMG THIS MOVIE IS BULLSHIT OF THE HIGHEST ORDER THEY COULDN’T EVEN BOTHER TO GET SOMEONE TO WRITE ACCURATE SHIT IN CHINESE ON THE WALL THEY PROBABLY GOOGLED A TAKE-OUT MENU OR SOMETHING THIS IS WHAT A $20MIL BUDGET BUYS IN HOLLYWHITE EVERYONE!

I just asked a family member to translate this. They came back with “Keep Clean. Apple, scallop & ginger, orange, tomato, grape”

"so basically stand your ground only applies to white people in florida" ~tumblr user droll-child
Okay guys, I need your help! Three years ago, this man (Michael Giles) was violently attacked outside a club in Florida during a large brawl involving almost 30-40 people. Giles was in danger of getting severely injured by one particular aggressor (unnamed), and in an effort to escape the crowd and save himself, he fired a legally registered weapon that he had at the time. Although the bullet did strike the aggressor’s leg, it did not seriously injure him. Giles then proceeded to try and find his friends to leave the area as soon as possible.
Several witnesses testified that Giles had not provoked anything and that the aggressor had started fights earlier that night. The aggressor himself admitted (in court) that he attacked Giles spontaneously. Also, Giles did not continue firing after his first bullet had gotten him a chance to escape. He left the area as soon as he could.
Despite this, Michael Giles received a mandatory 25-year sentence for “aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing bodily harm”. There’s a plethora of evidence showing that this case should fall under the stand-your-ground law, but this appeal was denied by the judge.
Michael Giles was even a member of the United States Airforce at the time. “He had no prior criminal offenses, no history of violence, and was a outstanding father and Airman.”
The only major reason his sentence is so harsh is because of his race.
The judge himself is quoted as saying, “Frankly, I think the 25-year mandatory is overly harsh based on the facts of this case, but that’s what the law requires I do and I intend to follow the law.”
This is a link to the change.org petition started by Michael Giles’ parents. They are simply asking Governor Rick Scott and the Clemency Board to commute his sentence, and right now they need about 40,000 more signatures to reach their goal.
PLEASE, PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION AND REBLOG THIS TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE!!

Demand rape charges be brought against the men who raped and murdered 16-year-old African-American boy

Yesterday we reported on the virtual sweeping-under-the-rug of the death of Dione Payne, 16, of Dayton, Ohio. The Dayton Daily News, one of the only local sources to report on the rape, and beating death of the youth seemed more interested in focusing on the “troubled past” of the victim, instead of the past of the murderers.

Michael A. Geldrich, 36, and Michael J. Watson, 39, are both being held in the Warren County Jail for the December 1 beating death of the young Payne. Miami Valley Hospital workers discovered that Payne had been sexually assaulted during the attack. Hospital personnel contacted Middletown police and stated the teen had been sexually assaulted, according to the police report. But thus far, no rape charges have been brought, and hate crime charges have been dismissed point blank by Franklin Police Chief Russ Whitman, who said there is “no evidence” that there was a racial motive to the rape and murder of this 16-year-old African American.
To add insult to injury, some local media reports have fixated on a checkered history of the juvenile: possessing narcotics, and even allegations that he had fired gun shots in the past. They talked about morbid comments made on his Facebook account before the day he was raped and beaten to death. They even called the 16-year-old out for getting arrested for littering. What they did not do was explain why the police have ruled out a racial motive to the attack, and why the Warren County Prosecutor has neither pursued hate crime charges, nor even charged the attackers with rape.

These questions still remain unanswered. But there is more that we can do besides reading about this frustrating account and getting on with our day in silence. What can you do? Well for starters, contact the Warren County Prosecutor, who is now handling the case. Demand that all crimes committed against 16 year old Dione Payne be presented to the grand jury on Michael A. Geldrich and Michael J. Watson- for the hate crime of rape, robbery and murder! The prosecutor can be contacted at the number and email below:
David Fornshell513-695-1325David.Fornshell@co.warren.oh.us
Ask why these criminals have not been charged for raping the 16-year-old boy who they murdered. Also ask why hate crime charges are being excluded, when this does not seem to have been a common practice for these drug buyers to rape and beat-to-death previous people who they have tried to procure narcotics from.
Are these charges being brushed off because there were drugs potentially involved, or for some other reason that neither the police, the City of Franklin nor the local media are reporting.
SPREAD THE WORD and get people involved. Tell everyone you know who thinks this 16-year-old rape and murder victim deserves justice, in spite of his “troubled past”.

Two Brooklyn cops sideswiped a parked SUV, then arrested a man sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle, accusing him of damaging their car, a suit charges.
And the officers would have gotten away with their lie — had the whole bizarre drama not been caught by a security camera.
Robert Jackson, 31, told The Post his nightmare began when a police car heading the wrong way on one-way Watkins Street in Brownsville scraped against a parked Ford Explorer, which belongs to his girlfriend. Jackson, a maintenance worker, said he was sitting in the legally parked car outside of his apartment when the accident happened. He got out of the vehicle and walked up to the officers.
“I was smiling, like, ‘How’d you run into me?’ ” he recalled. “Then the cop said, ‘Dude, you ran into me.’ ”
“I just wanted them to fix the damage and apologize, but it didn’t turn out that way,” Jackson said. “They were trying to cover it up.” At that point, things got even more surreal.
The two cops checked the block for surveillance cameras before arresting him for destruction of city property, according to the lawsuit filed by Jackson in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
“When they thought no cameras were on. I saw their gloves go on, and that’s when I was arrested,” Jackson said.
But fortunately for Jackson, the officers, Christopher Oliver and Shazad Shigri, missed one camera on the home of one of his neighbors, Jackson said.

Charda Gregory abducted, humiliated, violated, restrained, scalped and tortured.
If this were reversed, with black police officers who were sworn to uphold peace and justice but instead were documented victimizing a white woman (who was already a victim), this news would have trumped the Olympics!

Truncated version: drugged at a party, abducted to a motel, wakes up during unwanted sexual violation in a motel room full of strangers, fights like hell to escape, motel employee calls the authorities, she gets arrested for destroying motel property and it just gets worse from there.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoBLolqUaNg

Every officer who participated in it and even those who witnessed it and did nothing should be punished but instead they just fired the woman?
No rape kit, no police report on the people inside the motel room, no investigation of her claims, no accountability for missing motel entry records, no video from the motel but she gets detained for fourteen days?

(Btw, when did your tax dollars begin purchasing Abu Ghraib type water boarding chairs?)

Tracy Martin speaks on life after Trayvon

You never really sit down at your dining room table and have a conversation about race until something happens in the news. That’s a conversation that America is afraid to have. Blacks aren’t afraid to talk about it—we always get the short end of the stick. Even though my kids grew up in a diversified community, I let them know racism is alive and it’s not going anywhere. Some of the population really feels African-Americans are beasts. America is set in its ways.
Growing up, Trayvon and Jahvaris were in a program called Youth of America, which was run by an internal affairs police officer named Walter Alderman. He’d teach them how to conduct themselves if they’re being stopped by the police. First thing you do is go into surrender mode. If the police tell you to stay on the ground or put your hands behind your back, go ahead and do it. Even if you did nothing illegal. You don’t want to give them the opportunity to beat on you or shoot you for no reason. You just have to be mindful of your surroundings and the things that you say. On the 7-Eleven surveillance video, you notice Trayvon asked for a bag. We’ve always taught our kids to ask for a bag if you’re in a store in an area you’re not familiar with. That way when you’re walking out, no one can accuse you of stealing—your receipt is in the bag. That’s a small thing that can go a long way.
I tell my sons to conduct themselves in a professional manner when they’re in public and be mindful of what they post on social media. What you say and do today will stick with you for a lifetime. And push come to shove, America will turn it around on you. They tried to make Trayvon out to be this monster because of some of the things he said on social media, but that’s just typical things teenagers say. Don’t be afraid of the skin you’re in. You can change your clothes, shoes and hairstyles but you can never change your skin. You have to be proud of who you are. We have to show our kids that their lives are as valuable as any other race. We have to reassure them that their lives matter.
Since the Zimmerman verdict my kids don’t want to play outside. We try to encourage them to get some fresh air, but they feel safer in the house. They’ll wear a hole in the bed just sitting and playing PlayStation. We have to let our kids know they don’t have to be afraid to leave their homes, go to the store or wear hoodies. Since the Trayvon incident, I tell my kids to make sure people can see your face under a hoodie, but does it really matter? If a person has ill will in his heart, he’s going to do what he wants to do anyway.
I’m sure Trayvon used conflict resolution, tried to get away from the confrontation. But as a parent you tell your child to defend yourself. Do what you have do to get home because you don’t know if you’re going to make it. I would’ve been ashamed if my son didn’t put up a fight. It’s not that we’re teaching our children to be aggressive, but we’re trying to teach them how they can get home safe. Protect yourself. Anywhere you go.

May God be with this family and ease their pain with each passing day.

The saddest thing I’ve read
